Injured against Argentina during the last match of the fall tour of the XV of France, Jean-Baptiste Gros returned to training this Saturday.
International left prop Jean-Baptiste Gros has returned to training with Toulon, but will not be available for Sunday’s Champions Cup match against Harlequins at the Mayol stadium, the club’s manager said on Friday.
“Jean-Baptiste is in recovery, he is not yet operational. For next week, I don’t know, maybe” commented manager Pierre Mignoni at a press conference. Injured in a thigh with the French XV against Argentina, last match of the Blues’ autumn tour on November 22, the player (25 years old, 32 caps) nevertheless hopes to be ready for the start of the Six Nations Tournament , on January 31 against Wales.
The well-stocked RCT infirmary
Before the reception of the English team, the RCT infirmary was full. There is another international there, the third row Charles Ollivon. The season of the player with 46 caps, victim of a ruptured cruciate ligament in his right knee during the Top 14 match against Racing 92 (36-24) last week, is over. “We are all very affected. It’s part of a career, unfortunately, and we support it”confided Mignoni.
-“Certain leaders will have the opportunity to take more space to fill their leadership roles. The best thing to do is to please Charles who wants to see the team win.” he continued.
The match against Racing 92 left its mark and sent several new elements to the infirmary: hooker Teddy Baubigny (calf), Leicester center Fainga’anuku (finger), winger Setariki Tuicuvu (finger, operation) notably joins other internationals like Beka Gigashvili (adductors) and Duncan Paia’aua (cervicals).
To face Harlequins, Mignoni and his staff will however be able to count on second or third line Swan Rebbadj. Injured since the start of the season, the French international (4 caps) will play his first minutes of play against the English. After the first two days of the Champions Cup, concluded with two victories, the RCT is first in group 4.
