The Union could not bring back better than this score of 1-1 on the Louvain side. A sharing of brothers, in the literal sense of the term.
Fedde Leysen did not expect to join the basic eleven of Union Saint-Gilloise yesterday. But Koki Machida’s last-minute injury earned him his ninth league start of the season.
And this in a special match since his brother Tobe kept the Louvanist goals in the opposite camp. A big first for the two players, who did not play at the same time in the two matches between Louvain and Union last season.
“At the end of the day, we were hardly confronted directly. There are no winners but two disappointments” explains Fedde to SudInfo, frustrated by the division conceded.
Not easy circumstances
“We also have a little brother who always tells me that I’m the better of the two and who says the exact opposite to Tobe,” the former PSV defender still laughed.
Before returning to the match itself: “I am disappointed because despite this violent wind which changed the trajectories of the balls, we were more enterprising before the break. The circumstances of the match meant that the wind changed, in sort of. But beyond the penalty and the exclusion of Vanhoutte, we weren’t rigorous enough after the break.”
