Wednesday in the NHL | The Hurricanes back on top in the East

(Philadelphia) Sebastian Aho and Jalen Chatfield each scored a goal and an assist to help the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-1 on Wednesday.

Jordan Staal and Jack Roslovic scored the other two goals for the Hurricanes, who have won their last three games and 12 of their last 14.

Pyotr Kochetkov stopped 18 pucks to improve his record to 10-2-0 this season.

Ryan Poehling found the back of the net for the Flyers. It was his first goal of the campaign. He had so far collected six assists.

Ivan Fedotov stopped 33 shots in front of the Flyers, who lost their last two games.

The score was 1-1 after 40 minutes of play, but Aho broke the tie just 1:03 into the third period.

Just over five minutes later, Staal and Roslovic put the match out of reach for John Tortorella’s men with two quick goals.

With this victory, the Hurricanes regained first place in the East with a record of 14-4-0, good for 28 points. The Washington Capitals follow with 27 points.

Fraser Minten enjoys his first goal of his NHL career.

Fraser Minten scored his first National Hockey League goal and the Toronto Maple Leafs shut out the Vegas Golden Knights.

The 20-year-old striker played his first match this season in the Bettman circuit. He was kept off the scoresheet in four games in 2023-2024.

William Nylander, who added an assist, and Pontus Holmberg also lit the red light for the Maple Leafs, who won a third straight game.

John Tavares and Mitch Marner each had two assists. Joseph Woll stopped 31 pucks to get his second shutout at his 40e starting in the NHL.

Adin Hill made 23 saves for the Golden Knights, who lost their second straight game.
