Servette FCCF did not tremble against the penultimate in the championship and continued with a third victory in all competitions. A last home meeting for this year 2024 which more than satisfied the Geneva public.
What to remember
José Barcala’s players continue their good momentum with this new victory. The result is clear and reflects the superiority of this team.
Indeed, in the last three matches, she won in style, not conceding the slightest goal and offering a festival offensively (2-0, 0-10, 5-0). Promising performances which could see the Genevans finish at the top of the ranking during the winter break, a place currently disputed with FC Basel.
The thread of the match
Not surprisingly, it was a one-sided encounter. The Servettians dominated their opponent in all aspects of the game. However, in the first period, they were terribly lacking in efficiency, even seeing, ironically, the Saint-Galloises obtain the most dangerous action: a face to face between Sina Spieser and Tinja Korpela well managed by the garnet goalkeeper.
We therefore had to wait until the second period to see the nets shake and finally translate this domination into concrete achievements. The opener was signed by Sandrine Mauron (47th), who with a little luck saw the ball return to her feet after a first strike ending on the crossbar.
The second success was from a corner with Paula Serrano finishing (55th), who now has 4 goals in the league. Imane Saoud tripled the lead on her first ball (63rd). Ten minutes later, Imène El Ghazouani widened the gap with a sublime strike to conclude a beautiful solitary sequence. Then, to seal the score, Thérèse Simonsson added her name to the list of scorers just before the final whistle (89th).
Player of the match
Imene El Ghazouani. The Moroccan international was one of the key elements of the Garnet team. In addition to her sumptuous goal, she orchestrated a large number of dangerous actions, either by combining on her right side with Manon Revelli or by showcasing her agility and technique.
