By sharing this Tuesday this photo of him on the famous song “One Last Dance” from Kyo, the 33-year-old Saint-Pierrais timidly implied that he was putting an end to one of the most brilliant professional careers for a player from Saint-Pierre and Miquelon. An outing as discreet as it is unusual at the start of the season, reflecting his personality and his career.

This Tuesday in Vitkovice, Valentin Claireaux will therefore have participated in his last professional meeting. A meeting which punctuates a journey rich in numerous achievements: a title of champion in the Magnus League with the Dragons of Rouen, nearly 1000 matches played including 184 under the colors of France, eight world championships contested with passages in the championships of France, Finland, Czech Republic as well as a very brief stay in Switzerland. Saint-Pierrais will certainly have left its mark on French ice hockey.

After sixteen seasons spent among professionals, the striker wanted to return home to Saint-Pierre and Miquelon. He who recently confided feeling a certain weariness of being far from his family, he will thus be reunited with his wife and two children on his return this Friday to the archipelago.
