The fraud affair that shook French football

Several Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 clubs scammed in 2017 led to the downfall of a huge network of diamond and cryptocurrency scammers. In Angers for example, on September 27, Patrick Montiel, a fake agent invented from scratch, posed as Thomas Touré’s agent with the Angers club. Losses which remain minimal for clubs of this scale, but which, through their reporting, will have made it possible to dismantle a huge network of crooks about to be judged at the Nancy court.
