The French Olympic champion took the wrong direction at the start of the swimming event. She headed towards the right of the water while all the competitors left towards the first buoy located on the left. Coming out of the water around fifteen seconds after the best, the Frenchwoman caught up on the bike and then attacked three kilometers from the finish of the running race, disgusting her rivals.
The race was thus suspended before the International Triathlon Federation indicated that the protest was unsuccessful. “My moment was taken away a bit. The Frenchwoman was still able to savor this coronation, a little over two months after winning the Olympic title. “Not even in my wildest dreams would I have imagined this. I think I’m going to start to really realize it because after the Games, I went straight back to the competitions and we quickly move on to something else.
