Fez – The finals of the first edition of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema competition on the Hadith Nabawi Acharif opened on Friday from the city of Fez, with the participation of sections of the Foundation in 48 African countries.

This competition, organized remotely by the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema over three days, saw the participation of 122 candidates, including 20 women.

The general secretariat of the Foundation had organized, during the months of July and August 2024 in coordination with all of its 48 sections in African countries, the qualifiers for the first edition of this competition which covers three categories of memorization and assimilation of the hadith.

Each section of the Foundation then organized a competition at the level of its country to select the candidates, of both sexes, to represent the sections of the Foundation during the finals.

The competition jury, made up of members from the Kingdom of Morocco and other African countries, will evaluate the applications and announce the winners through the Zoom platform.

The opening session of the competition was marked by the screening of a documentary film on the first edition of the competition of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema on the Hadith Nabawi Acharif, which reviewed the context of creation of the competition and the preparation stages.

The documentary indicates that the General Secretariat of the Foundation set up a committee responsible for developing the scientific platform for the competition in terms of content, categories and themes, emphasizing that the scientific committee, after several meetings in person and at distance, adopted a guide for the competition which includes 90 hadiths.

The same source added that the General Secretariat of the Foundation supervised the audio and video recording of these hadiths and entrusted the reading to a host of ulema, men and women, from the Kingdom of Morocco and sections of the Foundation in other countries.

The competition of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema on the Hadith Nabawi Acharif is part of the implementation of the objectives of the Foundation in the service of the Holy Quran and the Hadith of the Prophet Sidna Mohammed, and in application of the recommendations of the meeting of the higher council of the Foundation during its fourth ordinary session held in Fez, including that relating to the organization of a competition on the Hadith Nabawi Acharif.

The creation of this competition also reflects the eminent interest shown by Moroccans, throughout their history, in the hadith of the Messenger of God, an interest perpetuated by Amir Al Mouminine, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, through the reorganization of the curriculum teaching at Dar Al-Hadith Al-Hassaniya, the closure of Sahih Al Boukhari and the creation of the Mohammed VI hadith platform.

This competition aims to popularize the Sunnah of Prophet Sidna Mohammed and its place in Shariaa and to encourage young Africans to take an interest in hadith in order to deepen knowledge of the prophetic tradition and disseminate human values.
