A journalist from The Athletic revealed Thursday that the terms of the Ballon d’Or ceremony will change this year: according to his information, the winners will now not be notified in advance and will discover the result at the same time as the public.
The Golden Ball for Vinicius, really? Last September 24, this was supposedly the information from the Madrid daily Marca. But Mario Cortegana, journalist for The Athletic, was doubtful. In a video published this Thursday, he explains that at the time of the front page of Marca, the votes had not even been closed.
Himself a member of the jury, he had not yet sent his vote to France Football, the magazine responsible for the Ballon d’Or. It was therefore impossible to say that Vinicius had already won the trophy. In fact, this year, France Football has therefore decided to change its methods to try to prevent leaks as the event approaches.

According to Mario Cortegana, all the winners will visibly discover the results on October 28, the day of the ceremony broadcast live. The famous interview published in the columns of France Football will be carried out after the ceremony, whereas it was organized beforehand in recent years.
