Zapping Our Mondial EXCLUDED: Moussa Diaby’s “Little Brother” interview!

FC Barcelona closes the 2023/24 financial year with a net deficit of 91 million euros, despite an ordinary profit of 12 million, as revealed by El Mundo Deportivo. This negative result is explained by an exceptional provision of 141 million for non-payments linked to Barça Vision, a project initially planned to generate income, but of which certain partners did not honor their commitments. The club’s board of directors, meeting in extraordinary session, therefore took the decision to record these receivables as an extraordinary charge, while affirming that it is not abandoning the idea of recovering this sum in the future. Despite this exceptional situation, the club continues to post solid financial performances in other areas, as evidenced by the record 210 million euros in sponsorship revenue and the sharp increase in merchandising sales, reaching 110 million euros.

Efforts made

In addition, FC Barcelona continued its efforts to reduce its wage bill, which fell from 670 million to around 500 million euros, while remaining compliant with the financial ratios recommended by UEFA. The club is also facing a significant drop in revenue from the operation of the Estadi Olímpic, due to the renovation of the Spotify Camp Nou, resulting in a reduction in ordinary revenue of more than €100 million. The Catalan club are considering a gradual return to Camp Nou over the course of next season, with reduced capacity, but expect stadium revenues to increase as work progresses. In sum, although facing notable financial challenges, Barça remains optimistic about its ability to generate stable revenues in the future, particularly through its growth plans and return to a fully operational stage.
