Dugarry welcomes the signing of his “idol” Rabiot at OM

Our consultant appreciates that the French international is freeing himself from rivalries between clubs and leading his career as he sees fit.

It’s now official. Adrien Rabiot signed for Olympique de on Tuesday, September 17. The former Parisian had been a free agent since leaving Juventus this summer.

A career choice praised by Christophe Dugarry in Rothen s’enflamme on RMC: “I love Adrien Rabiot. Adrien Rabiot is my idol! But what freedom this boy has! The freedom to do what he wants, the boy”.

The former Barça player appreciates that Adrien Rabiot is freeing himself from the rivalries between clubs, and in particular that between the capital club and the Olympian club, greatly fuelled by Canal+ during the Bernard Tapie years.

In 2019, “he was at Saint-Germain. What did they tell him, what didn’t they tell him? He said: I decide not to extend my contract, I decide to keep my mother as my agent, I decide to go to Juve, I decide to go until the end of my contract. There, he decides to go to Marseille”, recalls Christophe Dugarry.

“Freedom to think” and “freedom to act”

Our consultant praises the “freedom of thought” and the “freedom of action” of the French midfielder: “He is not in the dictates: you have the Paris jersey, you do not have the right to have the OM jersey”. And to continue: “Starter in the French team, captain at Juventus. (…) The guy has an exceptional career”.

“You wanted to share something with OM, even if you were born in Paris (in Val-de- in reality, editor’s note), even if for a while you were able to support PSG, even if you wore their jersey. So what? Is it forbidden to like another team, another club?”, says Christophe Dugarry.

An argument that does not convince Jérôme Rothen, annoyed by the arrival of Adrien Rabiot in a rival club. “When you make declarations, when you decree to be accepted at Paris Saint-Germain that it is the club of your heart, that you would never wear the jersey of Olympique de Marseille…”
