The Paris Olympic vice- – Ri Jong Sik and Kim Kum Yong – are undergoing a month-long “ideological evaluation” in their country.

Silver medalists in the mixed event, North Koreans Ri Jong Sik and Kim Kum Yong are undergoing tests in their country after having a photo with their South Korean opponents at the time of the podium. The two British media outlets have learned that the pair Jong Sik-Kum Yong are the subject “of an ideological assessment” which aims to “cleaning in the face of exposure to contamination” after their photo was taken. A photo clearly criticized in North Korea which could earn them political and administrative sanctions.

Indeed, before the competition Ri Jong Sik and Kim Kum Yong were reportedly instructed – like every athlete in North Korea – not to come into contact with those from South Korea. A request that was therefore not respected by the pair of table tennis players. For a month, they will therefore have to prove that they have not been “influenced” by culture “non-socialists”.
