Cyclists don’t go to the Worlds for the money. And for good reason, the bonuses paid by the UCI during the road world championships seem derisory compared to the salaries of the best riders on the planet. This year again, the winner of the elite road race will receive €8,000 against €4,000 for the second and €2,000 for the third.
On the other hand, parity will once again be there since there will be no difference between women and men.
In total, €124,250 in bonuses will be paid. This is more than in 2022, since we note an increase in the men’s and U23 time trial from single to double Remco Evenepoel had received a gain of €10,000 for his world champion title and his 3rd place in the time trial on Australian soil last year.
Compared to classics like Paris Roubaix the difference is significant. The winner of “The Hell of the North”, Mathieu van der Poel received €30,000 against €20,000 for the winner, Alison Jackson in 2023.
