Big scare in Geer and strong mobilization in Hesbaye, this Wednesday evening: Louis, 8 years old, was no longer found

A little later, his relatives published an appeal for help on Facebook: “WE CANNOT FIND LOUIS, HE WAS STILL WITH US AT THE GEER GROUND ABOUT 1 HOUR AGO.”

This call sparked a huge wave of solidarity. On the social network, the post was shared 14,500 in a very short time. But on the ground, too, the mobilization was significant. Employees of the Commune, the football club, the Hesbaye Frost company and ordinary people went looking for Louis.

Warned, the police in the Hesbaye area also deployed significant resources. We had 12 men on the ground and a drone”confirms the area manager, André Jamers.

Finally, around 9 p.m., the young boy was found safe and sound by a motorist who was surprised to see a child alone at such a late hour.He was on the Gingelom side. He left there alone for some unknown reason, confirms Commissioner Jamers. The driver then alerted our services.”

On the FB page of Avenir Huy-Waremme, this testimony sets the tone: “In all this fear and this happy outcome, I will remember the impressive mobilization on the ground…. I think there were 100 cars looking for him, it was impressive to come across cars driving slowly in all the streets of the neighboring villages, windows open, all lights on, on the lookout… and a traffic jam with a happy ending when the good news started to circulate and everyone wanted to check if they could go home…”

The strong mobilization will therefore have paid off.
