Mathieu van der Poel confirms that he has a broken coast: “It’s annoying, but everything is still possible …”

Once left, Mathieu Van der Poel was not seen again. Alone behind him, Wout Van Aert also pedalled alone to the line. He bowed for the second time in front of the Dutchman, after their first confrontation of the season in Loenhout. The Visma-Lease A Bike runner finished his cyclocross season with two victories in five races, while Van der Poel will run the world championships in Liévin next weekend.

Behind the two men, Nieuwenhuis arrived 3rd, ahead of Joran Wyseure (+2: 05) and Toon Aerts (+2: 16). Michael Vanthourenhout, 6th at 2:54, is not yet assured of the victory in the general classification of the World Cup. Leader with 251 points, he has an advance of 32 points on Toon Aerts (219 points). The latter will have to win the final race in the Netherlands, in Hoogerheide on Sunday, hoping that Vanthourenhout only arrives 18th or worse, to finish at the top of the ranking.
