The Belgian Union wishes to present its new national coach by the end of the month at the latest. It looks like it will be a foreign coach again. However, Hein Vanhaezebrouck is a good Belgian coach who is currently without a club.
The national coach’s file is currently managed by Vincent Mannaert, the sporting director of the Belgian Union since the beginning of December. Last week, he made a first decision. As expected, Domenico Tedesco was thanked for services rendered.
Mannaert is therefore faced with the next crucial decision: who should take over at the Red Devils. After contacting several coaches in Belgium and abroad, there is currently a shortlist of five candidates.
Three of them have already been leaked. The French Thierry Henry and Rudi Garcia were already known. Last weekend, Julen Lopetegui was also mentioned.
The former Spain national team manager is free following his recent dismissal from West Ham United and is said to be Mannaert’s preferred choice.

Three names who have earned their stripes abroad. But after Roberto Martinez and Tedesco, many observers thought it was time to put a Belgian in charge of the team again. Vanhaezebrouck has been presented several times as the ideal candidate.
It is not yet known whether the former coach of La Gantoise and Anderlecht, among others, was actually part of the list of candidates. Vanhaezebrouck himself has already made it clear that he is not interested in a new coaching position. Nevertheless, his name continues to be associated with the position of Belgian national coach.
