The president of La Gantoise, Sam Baro, settles his accounts: “I invested 30 million in this team, it’s insufficient!” – All football

Sam Baro held a press conference alongside sports director Arnar Vidarsson this Tuesday evening. The owner of La Gantoise was very critical of the players and staff.

Sixth in the championship, La Gantoise is not having the hoped-for season and is losing more and more places in the standings. This Tuesday, the Buffalos tried to resolve the problem by parting ways with Wouter Vrancken.

On this occasion, President Sam Baro held a press conference on Tuesday evening, during which he did not only talk about Vrancken’s departure. He stressed that the responsibility does not lie solely with the coach.

“I certainly don’t want to put everything on Wouter Vrancken’s back. With the current team, the overall quality must be much better. We need more grinta, concentration, leadership on the pitch, more maturity, discipline and team play.”

Responsibility is collective, according to Sam Baro

“I expect a different level of commitment from the players and staff. A lot of work is being done, but it’s not enough to be the great club we want to be. It’s not enough for a team in which I have invested 30 million euros,” he added.

“At the same time, we are aware that we need to recruit players who directly add value. Especially after Max Dean’s injury, we still need a striker. But it is definitely not easy. As As a club, we also need to question ourselves and our recruitment strategy. In my opinion, we have recruited too many promising young players. Baro therefore also recognizes that management made mistakes.

“These are not failed transfers, but it was a strategic error not to recruit enough immediately exploitable players. It’s a lesson we have learned. There is certainly sufficient budget to make new transfers,” he concluded.
