The travel ban on Olympique de Marseille supporters has just experienced a new episode this Tuesday. Five days before the Southern derby between Nice and OM (Sunday 8:45 p.m.), the Alpes-Maritimes prefecture issued an order to prohibit the faithful of the Marseille club from coming to the Allianz Riviera.
The reason given? “Prevent serious disturbances to public order and ensure the safety of people and property“, as well as “the permanent and violent rivalry between the ultra supporters of the two clubs“.
In a context of recurring bans, this decision was expected. However, OM has decided, as it does every time in similar circumstances and as it again promised to the supporters' associations last week, to challenge this decision before the Nice administrative court. The file will be investigated quickly.
-This is not the first time that OM has acted in this way. He had done this for the trips to Nantes and Saint-Étienne for which, already, Roberto De Zerbi's men had been deprived of support. The Olympian management has never won its case until now.
