Briviste hooker Lucas Da Silva received the Midi Olympique Oscar this Monday evening, at the end of a very wonderful evening. A deserved reward for the one who scored eight tries in the first part of the season.

For one evening, the CAB put aside a rather gloomy start to 2025. The club celebrated, this Monday evening at the Derichebourg space a few meters from the Stadium, in front of nearly 600 people, its hooker Lucas Da Silva, best try scorer of the Brivistes with already eight achievements (tied with winger Erwan Dridi)! Arriving in Corrèze in the summer of 2022, the former Parisian had a successful first part of the season. Precise in throwing, and in the wake of a pack of dominating forwards, Da Silva often rewarded the work of an entire group.

The hooker, injured in his ankle since the trip to at the beginning of January, therefore received the Midi Olympique Oscar from the hands of Emmanuel Massicard, deputy director of Midi Olympique, and numerous gifts from the partners. “From a personal point of view, this award makes me happy, but above all it rewards all the collective work. Thanks to the bunch of forwards who allowed me to score all my attempts”, he humbly concluded this Monday evening. Earlier in the evening, Lucas Da Silva was congratulated by his general manager, and former pillar, Eduard Coetzee: “I’m happy that a front-line guy is being rewarded. These are the most important positions.” And by his manager Pierre-Henry Broncan, not without a touch of irony: “I saw the progress between Stade Français and Brive… it’s always the same tests. Besides, given the attempts scored, you could play despite your injury and score on one foot.”

Ferté, a hope already great

Lucas Da Silva was not the only one to be celebrated this Monday evening since his teammate Mathis Ferté received the Oscar Espoir, presented by Captain Lambert, of the Air and Space Force. The Brivist three-quarter, capable of playing almost anywhere within the back lines, confirms all the expectations placed on him. After debuting in the Top 14 at just 18 years old, the under-20 world champion in 2023 is a real X factor. The player trained in the neighboring Lot already has 23 tries in 63 matches with CAB. He wanted to congratulate his hooker, in his own way: “I’m very happy for him, he scores some nice tries without running too much.” To which Da Silva was quick to respond: “Mathis is jealous, I have more attempts than him so he is a little angry.”

A good atmosphere in an evening, orchestrated by Philippe Oustric and led by Romain Magellan, during which the entire club was celebrated, from the rugby school, to the women’s, including the training center. A landmark evening, during which players and staff promised to write a beautiful page in the history of the CAB, as Pierre-Henry Broncan reminded the assembly. “We are in a century-old club. We must respect the culture and history of the club. We have a story to write. To do this, it requires humility, respect and work.” Values close to those of Lucas Da Silva.
