This Monday, Barça president Joan Laporta made a public appearance due to his summons before a judge in Barcelona as part of an investigation into alleged fraud of 4.7 million euros, dating back to his time as lawyer in 2014. The case concerns a family who won 34 million in the Primitiva lottery and who Laporta allegedly advised to invest in CSSB Limited, a company headed by Joan Oliver, former general manager of Barça. Five loan contracts, totaling 4.7 million euros, were reportedly signed with promised interest of 6 to 7%, but the family only recovered a tiny part of its investment.
Laporta denounces a scandal
But this Monday, Joan Laporta decided to place the debate on another level, namely the Catalan club’s last match against Getafe this weekend. While Barça had to share the points (1-1) an arbitration controversy arose due to a potential penalty not awarded to Jules Koundé, which could have allowed Barça to force the decision. Laporta, interviewed by the show El Chiringuito, therefore did not miss the opportunity to make a resounding rant… “The referee of the Getafe match was ashamed. No penalty was awarded to Koundé. It’s a scandal. It’s a scandal,” said the Barcelona president.
