CHAN 2024: Kamau’s recipe for Kenya

Kenya will play, during “its” CHAN, in group A alongside Morocco, DRC, Zambia and Angola. If some observers speak of a “group of death”, Harambee Stars assistant coach, John Kamau, thinks it is more of a motivation.

“The 19 teams present are here to fight, and if you want to win, you have to face the best. I am satisfied with the draw.”

Kamau already has his recipe for an honorable participation of his team in the competition. According to him, this requires good planning and rigorous preparation.

“We need to plan now. I will recommend monthly training camps to build cohesion and synergy within the team. By August, we must have a strong, united team ready to take on the challenge. »

On the chances of getting out of his group, the former coach of Mathare United remains confident. The speech will no longer have any impact, he thinks. The players are already motivated and the draw will only pump them up. Moreover, Kamau predicts that the teams which come out of this group will have a greater chance of postponing the tournament.

“With such a group, there is little to say to the players. The draw is in itself a motivation. Whichever team emerges from this group will have an excellent chance of going all the way. This is the mindset we need to adopt as we prepare for August. »

Kenya hosts the tournament along with Tanzania and Uganda. Initially scheduled for February, CHAN was finally postponed to August.
