Despite the return of Moussa N’diaye to the eleven, Ali Maamar was still there. The left back played another full match, a few days after having one of the best Mauves against Antwerp.
If you asked us which RSCA Futures players would break through in 2025, the name ofAli Maamar probably wouldn’t have been the first to come to mind. Without being bad, Maamar was quite discreet compared to players like Tajaouart, Engwanda or De Cat.
But here it is: this Sunday, it was no longer really a surprise that Ali Maamar was started by David Hubert on the left. Even the return of Moussa N’diaye did not put him on the bench, the Senegalese being aligned in the center. “At the beginning, I didn’t expect it, of course. But from the moment the coach needs me, I’m ready, whether in Futures or in the A team,” he declared after the match in Kortrijk.
Maamar left back by default?
The most impressive thing about Maamar’s performances is that he does not play in his best position, which is at right back. “I think I can bring a lot more to the team on the right,” admits the youngster from Neerpede. “But when it’s for the Anderlecht coat of arms, it doesn’t matter whether it’s on the left, right, in the middle, I’ll give it my all.”
-His relationship with David Hubert, whom he has known for a long time, also helps his integration into the A team, which goes smoothly. “The rest of the team also made me feel at ease. Of course, there is a difference in intensity, which I felt directly in training,” says Maamar.
“The coach trusts me a lot and that also helped me. I would like to thank him and continue my momentum to prove to him that he is right to believe in me,” concludes the sensation at the start of the year at Sporting.
