Back in the Super League championship, Steven Zuber was the attraction of this resumption match in Zurich.

The arrival of Paolo Tramezzani at the helm of the Stade Municipal club did not really upset the green and white collective. If the -Vaudois were solid for the majority of the game on Sunday at Letzigrund – still as well-stocked despite everything, with still 11,877 fans there -, they ended up cracking. YS is a virtual barrage.

The return to business was very smooth, between two teams who were already not at their best at the end of 2024. We had to wait half an hour and a free kick from the star recruit of the winter transfer window in Super League, former GC Steven Zuber, for the Zurich public to warm up a little and finally see a shot on target. The Swiss international, best passer of Euro 2021, rolled his kick well, which was easily repelled by Paul Bernardoni.

Zuber misses the inevitable

Zuber went there again with a cross-shot which found no one in the 32nd, before being at the origin of the failure at the start of 2025. 5 minutes from tea, the former AEK Athens sent a good ball, again from a free kick, into the North Vaud area. Bernardoni failed to repel this cross and went to the ground. Jahnoah Markelo found himself when the ball fell, alone 5 meters from the empty goal… and sent the ball into the Zurich fog.

For the second shot on target of the match, we had to wait until the 57th minute. Ifeanyi Mathew then delivered a sharp shot from 20 meters, which the Yverdon goalkeeper magnificently slammed home for a corner. Enough to wake up Yverdon, who tried his luck three times in a few minutes. Mauro Rodrigues’ shot was initially too crushed (62nd), Moussa Baradji’s volley (65th) was close to hitting the mark, before Mateusz Legowski missed the mark alone from 10 meters (68th).

Tsawa scores the only goal of the match

By letting his chances slip away, Yverdon lost everything at the very end of the game (87th). A free kick from Antonio Marchesano put the North Vaudois defenders in their little shoes and the ball found itself free in front of their goal line. Cheveyo Tsawa was quick to push him to the bottom and offer FCZ its first success since a trip to Sion (0-2) on October 30.
