Saturday started well for the Red Devils abroad. Dodi Lukebakio was directly decisive with Sevilla.
Still unable to achieve two consecutive victories in La Liga this season, Sevilla FC was keen to recover in Girona after losing to Valencia (red lantern of the championship) last season.
It looked good: after three minutes of play, the Andalusians were awarded a penalty. But Isaac Romero saw his ball diverted by Paulo Gazzaniga. Worse: the locals even opened the score after half an hour of play.
A blow to the head for Sambi Lokonga and Dodi Lukebakio, both starters. But Seville still managed to turn the situation around in the second half against a team that was never easy to play against.
Lukebakio, best player of the season in Seville
Saul Niguez sparked a revolt by equalizing on the hour mark. The match could then have gone either way but ended up smiling on the visitors, notably invigorated by the rises of Chidera Ejuke and Stanis Idumbo in the last twenty minutes.
-Stayed in the game throughout the match, it’s Dodi Lukebakios who tipped the scales with a classy sequence in the rectangle in moneytime. The Red Devil’s ninth goal of the season allows his team to return to tenth place in the standings.
By then, Saul had already scored the 1-1 and at the end of the match he also managed to put the Red Devil Lukebakio on the way to the crucial goal of the 1-2.
The Belgian striker dribbled past a defender and then finished brilliantly. A very nice goal from Lukebakio, which shows his value for his team.
