To be one of its headliners, Jordan Bardella knows the French far right well. But the president of the National Rally (RN) does not understand the « mode » which seizes his camp before the inauguration of the next American president, Monday January 20. “We have the impression that it’s Walt Disney, that we’re racing to take a photo in front of Donald Trump during his speech”launched the MEP on CNews four days before the event. In 2017, his mentor would have given everything for a photo alongside the billionaire. A week before the real estate mogul's first inauguration, Marine Le Pen tried to meet him in New York… without success.

Change of strategy this year. To inaugurate the second term of Donald Trump, the RN dispatches three elected officials: Louis Aliot (mayor of ), Julien Sanchez (MEP), Alexandre Sabatou (MP for Oise). A discreet representation, mixed with the delegation of Patriots for Europe (of which the RN is a member in the European Parliament), so as not to give the impression of parading in front of the American leader. “Sending one of our two leaders would not have been a very good signal to our voters: at a time when the country is going through so many crises, it would have been inappropriate to brag during a ceremony that was not really a priority for the French”justifies Alexandre Sabatou.
