Montreal Canadiens goalie prospect Jacob Fowler continued Friday to strengthen his candidacy for the Mike Richter Trophy in the NCAA.
Fowler gave the University of Providence Friars nothing on a total of 24 shots, while the Boston College Eagles signed a 3-0 victory at the Conte Forum.
His record in 18 starts is now 14 wins, 3 regular losses, and one in overtime.
One of his most decisive saves of the evening came in the third period when he pulled out the glove to frustrate Alexander Bales on a breakaway.
With this most recent performance, CH’s third-round pick (66th overall) in the 2023 draft displays a save percentage of 93.2% and a goals-against average of 1.74.
-During his season freshmanat 18, Fowler was one of the finalists for goalkeeper of the year. Kyle McClellan of the University of Wisconsin was ultimately chosen.
Fowler is trying to become the first Boston College goalkeeper to inherit the Mike Richter Trophy since Thatcher Demko during the 2015-2016 season.
The same two programs meet again Saturday, this time at the Friars’ home in Rhode Island.
