An exceptional, emblematic wine from the Jura, straw wine will be celebrated throughout the day this Sunday, January 19 in Arlay. The fruit of a long and meticulous production process (harvesting the finest bunches with great care, drying for a minimum of six weeks, pressing, fermentation for 3 years, etc.), straw wine nevertheless represents “only 1% of Jura production”, explains Laura Bourdy, at the head of a family estate which has been cultivating vines since 1579, in Arlay.

And 2024 should not help the situation. “Because of the mildew, it was a really special year. There are almost no bunches to press. Just a few for the folklore of the party,” she confirms.
