AUTO-MOTO – Favorites at the start of the last stage, Sanders on motorcycle and Al-Rajhi on car finish leaders of the general classification
The 2025 Dakar drew the curtain on Friday morning with the victories of Sanders on the motorcycle and Al-Rajhi on the car.
In the motorcycle category, the Australian Daniel Sanders (KTM) won without much surprise, after having been leader since the start of the edition. He won 5 stages out of 12. This is the first Dakar he has won in the motorcycle category. Frenchman Adrien Van Beveren (Honda) finished in a good 3rd place. Friday morning, it was South African Michael Docherty who crossed the line first, after a stage of only 61 km. Three French people finished in the top 20, with Dumontier 12th, Neels Theric 15th and Benjamin Melo 21st.
In the car, the Saudi Yazeed al-Rajhi and his co-driver Timo Gottschalk finished leaders of this Dakar 2025 with an Overdrive crew. In the general classification, the one who played at home finished 3’57 ahead of Henk Lategan, after 5,000 km. On Friday, Al-Rajhi finished 13th and came 4’25 behind Moraes’ time, winner of the stage between Shubaytah and Shubaytah.
