Barely a month after the end of the elections in the federations, the Minister of Sports, Youth and Community Life, Marie Barsacq, wants to learn the lessons. In a letter – that The World was able to consult –, dated Tuesday January 14 and sent Thursday, Mme Barsacq asks each federation president to answer a questionnaire “enabling an initial assessment of these elections, and the application of the law of March 2, 2022 [visant à démocratiser le sport en ] ».

“This feedback will provide food for thought on desirable legislative or regulatory developments to strengthen the French sporting model. If the impacts of the law of March 2, 2022 do not correspond to those expected, correction mechanisms may be considered”it is specified in the missive, co-signed with David Lappartient, the president of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF).

The letter follows criticism from the Summer Olympic federations, which were relayed in mid-December by Mr. Lappartient. During the elections, which they hold at the start of each Olympics in the fall, the federations had little taste for the new legislative obligations, including strict gender parity in the governing bodies – from 2024 at the national level, from of 2028 at the regional level –, the limitation to three of the number of presidential mandates, or even the better representativeness of the club vote.
