Kanaté, 18, arrives from Afrique Football Elite, a club located in Bamako. The winger distinguished himself during the last 2023 Under-17 World Cup where he contributed to Mali’s good run, third in the tournament, with two goals and three assists.
His performances during the U17 World Cup had attracted the attention of the Anderlecht recruitment unit, confirmed Tim Borguet, head of the Academy. “He is a right-handed winger who excels with his explosiveness and technical abilities in one-on-one situations,” explained Borguet. “Ibrahim is a player with a lot of depth and threat in his game, with a lot of intensity and commitment in his actions. It is a profile that we have sought in a targeted manner and which corresponds to our plans at the Futures and the future of the club.”
