Forward Michael Pezzetta has only played eight games with the Montreal Canadiens this season, and so far his impact hasn’t been particularly positive, even if the man plays with heart and energy.

During the last two matches in which he took part, the 26-year-old Ontarian paid the price for his style of play, being punished very early in the match before seeing the opponent score while he was in the dungeon.

In short, when the CH has to deal with an unexpected absence in attack, especially when it is abroad, it generally has to fall back on Pezzetta, since he is currently the only surplus attacker in the group of players. And maybe it’s time for that to change.

“The Canadian will have to make a decision,” commented former NHL coach Michel Bergeron on Wednesday to TVA Sports.

According to him, “it’s completely normal” for Pezzetta to be pinched by the officials as he was in his last two matches.

“He is extremely motivated and he wants to do well,” explained “Bergy”. I think it’s a bad idea to send him on the first faceoff of the game. He’s so angry, he’s like the horse at the fence.”

“He didn’t take a punishment for indiscipline, he was trying to impose a little more,” he then qualified.

Now, the time may have come to call on another player within the organization to compensate for current or future absences.

“Pezzetta is appreciated by the coaches and his teammates,” recalled Bergeron. But at some point, it will take someone who can play regularly, because the further it goes, the more difficult the matches will be.

“The Canadian is traveling with the minimum number of players, so it would be good for the Canadian to recall one or two players.”
