Bee products
Bee products have multiple health benefits. This is the case of propolis, a residual resin from foraging, whose antioxidant properties help, among other things, to calm inflammation of the throat and fight viral infection, reports the general practitioner. To consume it, several options are possible: small bars to break and chew for 10 minutes or even pure extract, more precisely a few drops to take 2 to 3 times a day. “It burns the throat a little but it’s effective and it’s validated by science,” says Dr. Jimmy Mohamed. Propolis also exists in the form of capsules and can be administered at the time of illness or to prevent winter illnesses.
Speaking of beehive products, we must not forget honey, also validated for its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial actions, recalls the general practitioner. “One of the best honeys that exists is honey from Yemen, but unfortunately it is very expensive,” explains the general practitioner.

Plant essences
Do you feel like your energy is slipping away day by day? Treat yourself to an echinacea treatment. This medicinal plant, widely used for its stimulating properties on the immune system, “reduces the number of days you are sick and helps prevent you from getting sick,” says Dr. Jimmy Mohamed. It can be found in pharmacies or organic grocery stores in the form of capsules, leaves or mother tincture.
Another plant highly prized in aromatherapy for its antiviral and antibacterial properties is ravintsara, whose leaves come from a tree native to Madagascar, the camphor tree. “You can use it in the form of plants to make herbal teas when you are sick or by taking essential oil, mixed with a little honey,” explains the general practitioner.
