A short-lived accountant from the LNR had replaced the RIB of a service provider company with his own. The scam has just been discovered.
The National Rugby League victim of a scam by a… former employee. The affair was revealed this Tuesday by The Parisian . A 42-year-old man will soon appear in court for having embezzled 82,000 euros from the body that governs professional rugby in France. This former NRL employee was hired in June 2023 as an accountant, but he was fired a month later as it did not do the job. How did he do it?
He simply replaced the RIB (bank identity statement) of a company providing the League with his own, and therefore collected the sums that the body paid to this company, a sound company. The NRL initially believed it was a computer hack before the said company complained of not having been paid. The LNR initially filed a complaint in December 2023 for fraud and fraudulent access to an automated data system.
The man confessed once the pot aux roses was discovered. At the beginning of January, he was summoned to the premises of the judicial police at Porte de Clichy. The fraud therefore ended at the start of 2025 with the arrest of a suspect.
