Surprise before the Anderlecht-Bruges kick-off: Andreas Skov Olsen was absent from the scoresheet. The Danish winger was called pale.
Nicky Hayen was clear about the situation and affirmed that Skov Olsen was indeed ill: “He had a fever of 39.5 and diarrhea, otherwise he would have been there. All this speculation must disappear,” declares the Bruges coach. Nothing to do, therefore, with these negotiations which are said to be advanced with Vfl Wolfsburg.
The German club has reportedly already made an offer of around 8 million euros, but that remains well below the asking price of Club Brugge, who want almost double.
The suspicions surrounding the absence of Andreas Skov Olsen are linked to his past: the Dane had already called in sick to force a transfer.
Last season, the Dane withdrew at the last moment from important Conference League matches against PAOK and Fiorentina, also due to “health problems”. This fuels doubts among some about his current situation.
Nicky Hayen, however, tries to maintain calm within the team. “I’m not worried about his case,” he stressed. “It was clearly agreed internally that he could leave if a suitable offer came in. So far, that has not been the case.”
The coming weeks will therefore be crucial for the future of Skov Olsen. It remains to be seen whether Wolfsburg is ready to meet the financial demands of the Blauw & Zwart.
