While his conflict continues with Olympique de Marseille, Chancel Mbemba would do anything to upset his club.
Clearly, the news is getting worse and worse regarding the Mbemba file for Marseille. The strong man of the Congolese selection, with 90 capes with the Leopards, is in turmoil in the Marseille city. HAS Marseille Olympicwhere he played around forty matches last season, his role was drastically reduced. Worse, he has not played a single minute this season, a sad observation for a player of his caliber.
The arrival of Roberto De Zerbi this summer marked a turning point. The technician Italyknown for his clear-cut choices, quickly established a list of undesirables, including Chancel Mbemba. Unlike other players who packed up, the Congolese decided to hang on. “ The situation has not changed with him », had also declared De Zerbi, putting an end to any hope of a return to favour.
Despite several transfer offers, Mbemba categorically refused to leave Marseille last summer, preferring to remain in the shadows rather than give in to the demands of his management.
“He wants to piss off OM until the end”
The divorce between Mbemba and OM is now complete. According to Sébastien Denis, editor-in-chief of Foot Marketthe defender would not be prepared to make efforts to facilitate an honorable exit. During a live organized by At Minutes OMDenis released a shocking declaration:
« He’s not ready to put in the effort. He wants to piss off OM until the end. Mbemba in his head is no longer really there. I don’t think he wants to get high in the locker room. »
These comments echo a state of mind deemed “vengeful” by observers. Already at odds with Ali Zarrak, former head of Pro 2, Mbemba seems determined to see his contract through to the end next June, even if it means leaving OM in a delicate situation.
“This is going to end badly”
The main issue remains financial. According to The Olympian TribuneMbemba would have set high conditions for considering a departure. He would demand a significant signing bonus and refuse that OM receive transfer compensation. An attitude which irritates the Marseille leaders, who hoped to recover at least 3 million euros in the operation.
Last summer, however, a transfer to Saudi Arabia seemed to be in place. But according to Denis, the player refused so as not to share the winnings with OM.
« This is going to end badly, it will end in June. He wants to go to the end because, if he is free, he will have a big signing bonus », added Denis.
While OM hoped to turn the page, Chancel Mbemba’s inflexible position continues to embarrass the club. Between a vengeful spirit and financial ambitions, the defender Congolese plays a risky game that could further tarnish his image
