Launched in the quest for a center forward during the winter transfer window, Bournemouth and West Ham have expressed their interest in Elye Wahi, lacking playing time with OM. But the Marseille club does not intend to sell off its French international hopefuls this winter.
Recruited for 25 million euros plus a 5 million euro bonus in Lens last summer, Elye Wahi is disappointing at Olympique de Marseille for the moment. A starter upon his arrival, the French junior international lost his place to Neal Maupay and has had to be content with fifteen to thirty minutes per match at most for several weeks. In a situation of failure in Provence for the moment, the former MHSC scorer nevertheless remains well-rated on the European market. And as proof, The Team reveals that two Premier League clubs are very interested in a potential transfer of Elye Wahi this January.
The national daily indicates that Bournemouth and West Ham, two second-tier clubs in the English championship who are looking for a striker this winter, have “a concrete interest” for the former Racing Club de Lens scorer. OM’s position is quite clear in this matter: Elye Wahi is not for sale… except in the event of a proposal deemed very satisfactory. “You want to leave and OM is there? Bank. We want players involved in the project” breathes a regular at the Marseille training center to L’Equipe.
OM wants to recover its stake for Elye Wahi
Loïc Tanzi and Mathieu Grégoire specify that Elye Wahi’s entourage has been contacted by the two English clubs in recent days but for the moment, no firm offer has been sent to OM and discussions are barely beginning . For their part, Pablo Longoria and Medhi Benatia will be firm in the negotiations because in the event of a sale, they want to regain their investment from last summer, namely 30 million euros including bonuses. Before going any further in the discussions, Bournemouth and West Ham are therefore warned. It is now up to them to line up or not and then convince Elye Wahi to sign in the Premier League, which is not a given either.
