The Carolo collective published a press release in response to the criticism it received, following Sporting’s defeat against the Union.
The Zebras lost at home against the Union, after having led following Nikola Stulic’s opening score just before the quarter of an hour.
However, the most notable events of the evening were the two interruptions of the match by the referee (read here). Indeed, smoke linked to the pyrotechnic show prepared by the Storm Ultras (in homage to their guests from the German club Münster) spread onto the field.
The referee then stopped the game for ten minutes, because pyrotechnics had already led to a first stoppage of the match in the first period as well. And for Mehdi Bayat“the interruption well and truly “killed” the Zebras” (read here), who ultimately lost 1-2.
Pointed out, the collective responded on its Facebook page evoking too easy criticism of it, apologizing for the “timing” of one of the animations but rejecting responsibility for Sporting’s defeat.
The Storm Ultras also took care to clarify that basically, “No action or message was addressed to management during this match. It was a festive and commemorative pyrotechnic animation.”
