Zeki Amdouni holds his first trophy. In Leiria, the Genevan won the Portuguese League Cup with Benfica.
Benfica won 7-6 on penalties in the final against Sporting. The score was 1-1 before this penalty shootout which saw Trinaco, the 14th striker, fail in front of goalkeeper Anatoly Trubin.
Zeki Amdouni was introduced in the 80th minute, probably with a view to this penalty shootout. Benfica’s second striker, the Genevan did not fail to point out that he was very effective in this exercise. Murat Yakin knows this perfectly and he has made the 24-year-old Genevan, without declaring it publicly, his No. 1 hitter in the national team.
Zeki Amdouni has been playing at Benfica since last summer. He was loaned by Burnley, the club with whom he is under contract until June 2028.
