Dedryck Boyata is now without a club. But he does not want to be bitter about his failure in Bruges.
Two and a half years ago, Dedryck Boyata was preparing to play in the Belgian championship for the first time. The former Red Devil was supposed to bring all his experience to the Bruges defense, with a substantial salary to boot. But the rest is known: the former Manchester City prospect only started ten games as a starter, not playing a single minute this season.
Last week, he ended up reaching an agreement with the Club to terminate his contract. He speaks for the first time about these difficult months in an interview with Nieuwsblad.
“I have mixed feelings but it was the best solution for me. It would be very easy to speak negatively about the Club now, especially after the last six months, but despite the difficulties, strong relationships have been built. also managed to find the positive even in the negative” he begins.
Ready to bounce back
Boyata explains that the injuries he suffered during his first months in Bruges conditioned the rest of his adventure. But he claims to have no longer suffered from physical problems during the last two seasons. He therefore wants above all to continue playing and wants to be reassuring about his state of form: “I’m the type to arrive in the first for training and leave in the last. I’ve had chronic problems, but they are bearable and under control.
He is therefore keeping himself in shape to quickly find a club: “The easiest thing would be to stay in Belgium – I have options – but I don’t want to close the door to anything else either. I am also ready to make sacrifices .I also realize that I can’t expect the same salary as in Bruges. I just want to find a club where I can show my value. I have a son who is also crazy about football and I would like to be able to show him that. what I can do.”
