Thanks to a goal from Alejandro Grimaldo at the start of the second half (48th), Bayer Leverkusen came back to within one point of the leader of the German championship, Bayern (38 against 39). The Munich residents host Hoffenheim on Wednesday (8:30 p.m.) at the end of the first leg of the Bundesliga.

Behind the leading duo, Eintracht Frankfurt manages to keep pace at the start of 2025, with a second success and 33 points on the clock. After winning at Sankt Pauli with a goal from Egyptian Omar Marmoush, Eintracht dominated Friborg 4-1 on Tuesday, with goals from Marmoush and Hugo Ekitiké.

Dortmund loses to the neo-promoted

For its part, Dortmund sank on Tuesday on the lawn of Kiel, new to the Bundesliga, losing 4-2. A gulf now separates Borussia and the top places in the standings after this setback. With 25 points on the clock, Nuri Sahin’s men are 14 and 13 points behind respectively the leader Bayern Munich (39) and its first pursuer, Bayer Leverkusen (38).

Trailing 3-0 at the break, Emre Can’s teammates came back at the end of the second half thanks to Gio Reyna (71st) and Jamie Gittens (77th), but did not manage to snatch a draw, conceding in time additional fourth goal. This setback in Kiel once again weakens the situation of Nuri Sahin on the BVB bench, who only won one match out of the eight played away during the first leg (5 defeats, 2 draws).
