As if things weren’t already bad enough around the Bruins, a rumor started by a radio host is fueling speculation in Boston. Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak have come out vehemently claiming there is no feud between them, while a Boston radio show claims otherwise.
Host Rich Keefe of the show Jones & Keefe on New England’s WEEI claims that Pastrnak told the Bruins he didn’t want to play on a line with Marchand because the captain criticized him for some of his plays, and that Pastrnak is at the center of feuds in the Bruins locker room, which run through their worst streak of failure in 15 years with six losses in a row.
“When there are heinous lies in the media, that’s when there’s a problem. The fact that this guy has a platform and is making things up is embarrassing,” Marchand said. “There is nothing true in what he said on the radio. The fact that he has a job after this is insane because Pasta and I are best friends. »
“We have had an incredibly close relationship for a long time. The only reason we don’t play together is so we can add depth to the team. There’s nothing true about (Pastrnak) being a problem in the locker room. He’s one of the most loved guys.”
True to form, Marchand didn’t stop there and continued to attack Keefe’s integrity.
“This guy has no merit in what he says. It’s very frustrating because that’s what happens. We weren’t up to par this year, we didn’t have the season we wanted. But I’m not going to let some random guy appear in the media and say anything. From now on, this guy has no credibility. The fact that he would come out with this is ridiculous. It’s embarrassing. Anything he says in the future will no longer be considered truth because he made it all up.
-For his part, Pastrnak echoed his captain’s comments by denying the rumors.
“We love each other. I have tremendous respect for him,” Pastrnak said. “We had a good laugh about it. This is 100% false. »
The duo has recently been split, with Pastrnak skating alongside Pavel Zacha and Morgan Geekie, while Marchand is alongside Elias Lindholm and Charlie Coyle.
Pastrnak and Marchand – teammates for 11 years – formed one of the best trios in the NHL for a long time with Patrice Bergeron.
Boston currently finds itself in 1st place among the teams drafted in the Eastern Conference with a harvest of 45 points in 44 games. However, they are threatened by a good number of teams with several games in hand, including the Blue Jackets, Penguins, Senators and Canadiens.
