A few minutes before the start of the match between Lausanne and Zug on this Monday evening, Stéphane Rochette scrutinizes the players’ warm-up with some concern. In a few seconds, he spots his son Théo and reassures himself: number 90 of the Lausanne Hockey Club (LHC) does not seem to have too heavy legs and will indeed be able to hold his place, despite some gastric problems. At the end of the first third, the father returns to the press box relieved. His son plays well. “But you saw, as soon as he is on the bench, he takes his water bottle.” Nothing escapes Stéphane Rochette, one of the best ice hockey analysts in Switzerland, a former professional referee.

The next afternoon, the father and son arrive all smiles on the esplanade of the Vaudoise arena. The Lions ended up winning 2-1 in overtime and are at the top of the National League standings. Théo is better and seems rested. There was no training in the morning: after two matches in two days, Lausanne coach Geoff Ward gave his team a day off. No respite, however, for Stéphane Rochette. In a few hours, he will comment on and analyze the evening matches broadcast by MySports.
