In an exclusive interview with ‘Daily Record’Belgian technician Philippe Clément expressed his conviction that Moroccan striker Hamza Igamane should not leave the club during this winter transfer window. According to him, it is essential to know how to wait for the right moment, both for the club and for the player, a notion which he explained by evoking the natural evolution of footballers’ careers.
Philippe first emphasized that it’s normal for a player to start a new adventure: “I did it myself as a player. This is normal in football. But knowing when the right time presents itself is essential, both for the club and the player. These are interesting points. This will be part of Hamza’s future, I am convinced. But not in the near future”.
“When someone can take the next step, a higher step, and it is beneficial for both the club and the player, there is no reason to stop them. I saw Aurélien Tchouaméni go from Monaco to Real Madrid, Benoît Badiashile from Monaco to Chelsea. Charles De Ketelaere moved from Bruges to AC Milan, and many Genk players moved to bigger clubs. It is therefore an integral part of a player’s journey”he concluded.
Under contract until June 2029, the 22-year-old Moroccan striker already has 11 goals and 2 assists in 22 matches played this season for the Gers.
