Cayden Primeau has had some success in the Canadian uniform this season. The one who was sent back to Laval to rebuild his confidence has not had much success as Samuel Montembeault’s auxiliary since the start of the campaign… which cost him his position.
Since then, Jakub Dobes has played like a guy who wants nothing to do with returning to Laval… which doesn’t help Primeau’s cause.
This means that, more and more, we understand that Primeau is on the transaction market, and even if nothing is imminent in his case (no team has claimed him on waivers, after all), we can thinking that his future is far from Montreal.
That said, if the CH wants to trade him, they will have to find a team that sees a future in the NHL for Primeau… and Dany Dubé believes that it is possible, as he explained on the airwaves of 98, 5 FM.
In fact, he sees Primeau as an NHL goaltender, but he doesn’t think he’ll make it in Montreal.
In fact, he explains his reasoning by a very simple factor: the reality of the Montreal market. We know that the latter is intense, which means that not everyone is able to perform in town.
It brings out the best in certain players (Samuel Montembeault, for example), but other guys can’t deal with the reality of the environment.
So, Primeau may have a better chance of establishing himself in the NHL with a team where the market is a little less intense. A bit like in Ottawa, for example, where his name is mentioned in connection with the team’s situation in front of the net.
-In the case of Primeau, no one doubts his talent. We saw him be dominant in Laval for years, and he even had a little success last season with the CH. That said, we feel that mentally, it can quickly become more difficult for him when he struggles and the pressure on his shoulders increases.
We will see if he will eventually be able to relaunch his career, and above all, if he will need a change of scenery to get there. Remember that he will become a free agent with restriction at the end of this campaign.
In burst
