You had to be patient and above all come early to hope to leave with the sesame. This Tuesday, January 7, the ticket office opened its doors at 3 p.m. in Bourgoin-Jallieu, in Isère. And even before the official launch, several hundred people had already gathered in front of the windows of the point of sale to obtain the holy grail: a ticket for the 16th Coupe de France between FC Bourgoin-Jallieu and Olympique Lyonnais on the 15th. next January.

I arrived at 12:30 p.m. It was necessary to have a place, because matches like that are not every dayconfides a supporter delighted to have obtained several tickets. I’m a supporter of both teams, so it’s perfect for us!”

Because in Bourgoin-Jallieu, the hearts of many supporters swing between FCBJ (National 3) and Olympique Lyonnais (Ligue 1). Beyond the largely unbalanced balance of power, with five divisions apart, only around forty kilometers separate the two cities.

We took six places. We also live in Bourgoin so we are supporters of OL and FCBJ a little too. But it’s still crazy to see OL at home. Personally, I live a three-minute walk from the stadium“, says a supporter impatient to climb into the stands.

3,000 of the 6,400 seats at the Pierre Rajon stadium were on sale to the general public. The rest of the tickets, already sold, were reserved for club members and partners of the French Federation. The ticket price was set between 25 and 35 euros. It was all gone in less than three hours.

But inevitably, some remained empty-handed, despite the hours of waiting in front of the ticket office: “It’s a bit nerve-racking though. It’s heartbreaking, for once there’s something rather pleasant. Plus, the Coupe de France is pretty nice… It doesn’t matter, I’ll go home and watch the match on quietly“, blurted out a supporter disappointed with his afternoon.

Difficult to please everyone for the management of FC Bourgoin-Jallieu, unaccustomed to these big football evenings. “The objective is to benefit the people of the territory, the faithful, the Berjallians but also the -Isère“, explains Dylan Rahis, general manager of the club.

Despite the enthusiasm, the FCBJ assures that it does not regret the choice of the stadium. “We wanted to be able to host this match on our territory. There will be 6,400 happy people in the stadium and others outside“, assures Dylan Rahis.

To allow everyone to experience this evening of January 15, the municipality will set up a fan zone on Place Carnot in Bourgoin-Jallieu. Giant screen, entertainment and food stands are planned for a historic evening.
