Andréas Hountondji strengthens Standard for the second part of the season. The Beninese striker was determined to sign for Sclessin.
Standard made its second winter recruit official last night. After Ibrahim Karamoko, it is the turn of Andréas Hountondji to arrive in Sclessin.
The Beninese international (eight caps) is on loan from Burnley, who paid 4 million to recruit him from Caen last summer. But Hountondji has not yet managed to establish himself among the Clarets, starting only two Championship matches in the first part of the season.
Hountondji wants to put all the chances on his side
The deal was closed on the first official day of the transfer window. However, the game was far from won in the face of the proposals from Antwerp, Kortrijk and Lens, which were more interesting from a salary point of view.
But the player’s will made the difference in moving the operation forward: his choice was quickly made, he has already impressed the Liège management with his involvement.
Sacha Tavolieri reports that during the first meeting between the board of Standard and Hountondji, the player had already watched several of the team’s matches, providing a fairly clear vision of what he could bring to Rouches.
Now he just has to show all this on the pitch. The Liège transfer window in any case begins quite quickly with this second arrival. But the club should not stop, several avenues are still being studied for the rest of this transfer window.
