WINNIPEG – Winnipeg Jets defenseman Colin Miller suffered a fractured larynx after being hit by a puck in the throat on Saturday, and he will miss a minimum of two weeks of action, coach Scott Arniel announced.
“It was a dangerous situation, but he is much better,” Arniel assured Tuesday. He is in the team’s entourage. He just can’t get hit again, obviously. »
Miller was hit in the throat by a puck late in the first period in a 4-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday, and he did not return to the game afterward. Arniel said Miller would be re-evaluated in two weeks, and “we’ll see where he is at that point.”
“He rode his bike today,” Arniel noted. He chatted with the guys, although he spoke softer than usual, but ultimately he was in a good mood. However, we have to be careful and make sure we don’t send him onto the ice. You absolutely don’t want anything to happen or someone to shake him up. He needs to take time to heal. »
Miller, 32, has eight points (two goals, six assists) in 34 games this season with the Jets. He is the third member of the Jets’ defensive corps to be sidelined at the moment, with Dylan Samberg (foot) and Haydn Fleury (lower body) both on the injured list.
