The Tyreek Hill era in Miami appears to be over.
The star wide receiver was frustrated that the Miami Dolphins didn’t make the playoffs.
“I open the door and leave. It was good to play here, but at the end of the day I have to do what’s best for my career. I’m too much of a competitor to play here,” he said after the Dolphins lost 32-20 to the New York Jets.
Since arriving in South Florida, Hill has not won a playoff game.
“This is the first time in my career that I haven’t made the playoffs,” Hill said.
Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said in a press briefing that he was “informed” that his star receiver “was unavailable” before a sequence in the second half. He did not want to comment on his player’s comments before he could speak with him.
-Miami acquired Hill’s services in March 2022 from the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for draft picks.
The 30-year-old American then signed a four-year contract extension with Miami, earning him $120 million, including $72.2 million in guarantees.
In 49 games, Hill amassed 4,448 passing yards. He also scored 28 passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown.
With 939 passing yards this season, it is the third time in his career that he has not reached the 1,000-yard mark in a season.
