an improbable Oliver Kahn-Jacques-Henri Eyraud tandem to buy back the Girondins de Bordeaux?

According to information from Southwestthe current owner of the Girondins Gérard Lopez would have been contacted by the former president of Olympique de with a view to a possible takeover of the club.

Towards a surprise takeover of the Girondins de ? While the Bordeaux club has an appointment, on January 21, before the Commercial Court to demand the renewal of its current observation period (which ends on January 31) for an additional six months, Southwest reveals surprise information this Thursday evening.

Jacques-Henri Eyraud, the former president of Olympique de Marseille (2016-2021), would have contacted the owner of the Girondins Gérard Lopez at the beginning of last December. An approach as a first step towards obtaining information with a view to a possible takeover of the club that the ex-manager of OM would have carried out as a representative… of Oliver Kahn, former great goalkeeper of the German selection and president of the Bayern Munich (2021-2023).

Eyraud and Kahn in search of clubs

If this is only a first step, the discussions would have proven sufficiently positive for the file to follow its course in contact with the Bordeaux town hall. Jacques-Henri Eyraud, who left the McCourt group (owner of OM) following his tumultuous departure from the presidency of Marseille, would therefore be on the lookout to return to service in football. Just like Kahn, who would have traveled around the world to inquire with different clubs since his ouster from Bayern Munich and would be the fund aggregator for a possible takeover.

Still in receivership, the Girondins de Bordeaux are (once again) at stake for their future during this first half of 2025 while, on a sporting level, the team coached by Bruno Irles occupies 4th place in its National 2 group, at 11 points from leader Saint-Malo but with two games behind. Today, three solutions are hanging over the nose of the club, recalls Southwest : a sale of club shares following “the renegotiation of current debts and with the obligation to finance a continuation plan”, a judicial liquidation or the failure of the continuation plan presented soon by Gérard Lopez to the Commercial Court. Which could benefit, perhaps, the Kahn-Eyraud tandem.
