A funny accusation, since Stéphane Omeonga has been playing in Israel since 2023 now and has never experienced problems of this kind. He is even captain of his club, Bnei Sakhnin. The player himself denies in an interview with The Last Hour.
“They tried to accuse the Israeli immigration service, but I contacted them and it’s false, I have a valid work permit,” says the former Belgian international hopeful. On his Instagram account, he had already recounted the treatment he had suffered (read here).
The player and his lawyer are now considering filing a complaint against the Italian police for this mistreatment, which he believes is based on his skin color. “This arrest is just the tip of the iceberg. Many people like me cannot find work, housing or play the sport they love because they are black. We must raise our voices together and educate our loved ones so that behavior progresses,” he concluded.
